| This website has been created for the reason of keeping alive the memories of two very under estimated computers that played their small part in the mid 80's home computer revolution. My very 1st computer back in mid 1985 was a Commodore C16. At the time time they were advertising a new boxed version for £49.99. Soon as I saw that add I had to have one. I was short of funds at the time but I knew I had some money coming so I managed to borrow the money from a friend. I started to type in the programs from the user manual shortly after playing punchy and enjoyed the programming so much I went and bought The Commodore 16 Games Book so I could program some more. I mean there was only so much of typing in programs like Row Your Boat that anyone could take. After typing in Star Trek (included on the listing pages) etc I started to learn what basic programming was all about and I went on to write a couple of my own games (Goalkeeper and A Spaceman Came Travelling). which I no longer have. The Basic that came with the Plus 4 and C16 was one of the best I have seen on a home computer. The plus 4 is a great machine with a full 60k available to the user for programming which was more than most of the eight bit machines could muster. |

Thanks to Ebay etc I now have a few Plus 4' and C16's lying around. I have a 1541 (MK1) and a Mk2 disc drive and about 270 different titles. Some of the games that I have, were released more than once, for example Paperboy was originally released by Elite and then Encore so I also a few doubles and trebles which brings my count to over 300.

Its a shame Commodore marketed this machine so badly. Its career was over as soon as it was released due to the then success of the C64 and the Sinclair Spectrum etc. There is still a great community out there on the web that strive to keep these great little commodores and others going. One of the best sites around is the Plus /4 World where you will find nearly everything that was available and has a great free forum. Quite a few of my screen shots have been sourced from this site so please pay it a visit. You are Visitor No. |
